Library Archivist Honored Nancy Mahr, Committee Chair Status of Women Award, with the 2024 award recipient Monique Sugimoto at the Annual Recognition Luncheon of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Branch of the American Association of University Women held June 1 at The Original Red Onion Restaurant in Rolling Hills Estates. Attendees lauded Sugimoto for her work as an archivist and history librarian for the Palos Verdes Library District. The Status of Women is awarded each year to a woman who is visible in the community, uses her education and talents for the good of the community, exhibits professional conduct, and is a positive role model for girls.

Village Shoe Repair Will be Moving After 26 Years Petros Badikyan’s Village Shoe Repair shop will be relocating from 703 Deep Valley Drive, to a larger space in the PV Bristol Farms shopping center on July 9. This new location address will be 893 Silver Spur Road. Badikyan said his new store will have more space for shoe repairs, leather care products. Daniel Trautner Named Director of Recreation and Parks The City of Rancho Palos Verdes last week announced the promotion of Deputy Director of Recreation and Parks Daniel Trautner to Director of Recreation and Parks. Mr. Trautner took the helm of the City’s largest department at the end of July following the retirement of former Director Cory Linder. He oversees 14 full-time and over 60 part-time staff, all
recreational programming, special events, seven staffed park sites, and the Open Space and Trails Division, which manages the 1,500-acre, City-owned Palos Verdes Nature Preserve.
