The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. The project will be executed by BMC’s subsidiary, BMC Investments Limited. The tannery will be located at the existing BMC premises in Gaborone. The new meat value addition and secondary processing plant will be located at the BMC premises in Gaborone. The project is expected to create 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The plant will be located in the industrial area of the city, which is expected to attract more investors. The tannery will use environmentally friendly processes and technologies to minimize its impact on the environment.

The appointed Design Build Contractor is a Botswana entity called Colic Construction Development (Pty) Ltd, and the project will cost P120 million upon completion.
